Redhill
2 Eastbourne Utd Assc

In the first 30 minutes both teams
looked strong and kept pressing forward to create the first goal. Captain Luke Jones and Ben Biggar were strong going forward
but were denied by the defence. Ian Wallace had a 30 yard shot only to see his attempt hit the crossbar.
One minute later Redhill found themselves
behind when Simon Catt scored from a Steve Prodger cross from the left. Redhill found themselves back on level terms when
a mix up between keeper Grant Fitzgerald and defender Sheldon Snashall knocked into Each other this allowed Michael Morgan
to collect the ball, go around both players who were on the floor and put the ball neatly into the back of the net.
Then disaster struck on the 40th
min when a pass from Scott Macdonald found Andy Atkin who chested the ball down and put the ball passed the keeper. Again three minutes later Redhill conceded yet another when Scott MacDonald passed the ball to Graham Holman
who was in an off side position the referee’s assistants’ flag stayed down and this allowed Holman to score,
The second half continued like the
first half ended when Steve Prodger scored the fourth goal for the away team. Again on the 52nd minute Scott Macdonald
made it 1-5 to Eastbourne. Goals continued in the 70th minute when Prodger scored again.
Eastbourne
made it seven with 5 minutes remaining when sub Khan Stevens netted. Ben Biggar managed to score his first of the season on

Redhill Stay Focused Despite Missing Out On All Three Points
Redhill
played hosts to newly promoted Littlehampton Town in their first league game of the new 2004-05 season. Despite losing to Merstham and Horley Town in pre season friendlies the Reds stayed focus
for this match in front of a home crowed of 160 people.
Redhill
had three new signings in the starting line up and that included goalkeeper Ian Chatfield who has played for Redhill in the
past, Horsham and Crawley Town. Straight from kick off, Redhill had the visitors straight under pressure, as they pushed up the field. The team were
playing and passing the ball well.
On
the 12th minute James Horner connected with a great pass to Redhill captain and player of the year Luke Jones who
headed the ball down in front of him and beating the defence with his pace only to have the keeper left in front of him, Jones
stood tall and put the ball passed the Littlehampton keeper Mickey Phillips to give the Reds the lead.
For
the next ten minutes Redhill had most of the possession and continued to move forward. Jones came close to scoring in the
21st minute but the keeper managed to put the ball out for a corner. Redhill tried to convert this corner into
a goal, but from a Tim Smith header the Reds were denied.
On
the 30th minute mark Littlehampton striker Clinton Moore managed to find away pass the Redhill defence, with a
hard shot from the right side of the penalty area the ball was heading for the left hand side of the goal but with a great
dive to his left Chatfield pushed the ball onto the post and the ball cleared away to safety.
Redhill
found themselves on level terms on the 38th minute, when Scott Stone tried to header the ball back to Chatfield
but misjudged the header, this allowed Clinton Moore the opportunity to go pass Chatfield and place the ball into the back
of the net.
The
next seven minutes was end to end football with both teams trying to take the lead before half time. Both teams were unable
to score as it stayed 1-1 at half time.
Redhill
find themselves behind on the 47th minute when again Moore put the ball into the back of the net and allowing the visitors to take the lead. Redhill continued
to battle with some great chance being made from Michael Morgan and Steve Jenns.
Redhill
had opportunities but were unable to convert them. As time was running out the Reds never gave up and kept pushing the ball
forward, they show good determination to get the score back to level terms with four chances in the last minute of the game
going wide of the post and over the cross bar.
Despite
not picking up all three points, Redhill remain focus and look forward to playing local rivals Three Bridges in a league game
on Wednesday 18th August, kick off 8:00pm and Eastbourne United Association on Saturday 21st August
at home, kick off 3:00pm. New Redhill manager Mark Endsleigh also remained confident in his side and continues to improve
and strengthen his squad.
